We are still here….and come with exciting news!

Yes, we are truly awful bloggers but we promise to get better! We have been berating ourselves for not updating the blog and kept saying we should do a post soon but, as you can see, that didn’t really happen. Feel free to give us some virtual slaps on the hand, although we prefer the carrot to the stick so some positive comments might work even better 😉

We haven’t been doing nothing though, behind the scenes we have been working away getting everything ready for a truly awesome summer of vegan food!

On the horizon we have a pop-up cafe happening at Lattjo Pop in Streatham, South London. This will be on the 6-7th of June. There will be more food than you can shake a carrot stick at as well as some special events happening thoughout the weekend. There will be a London Vegan Meetup from 2-4pm on the Saturday if you want to come down to meet some new vegans or feel free to pop in at any time over the 2 days. There will be lots of updates about this on our Facebook page so ‘like’ us to find out more: https://www.facebook.com/forkslovefoodvegan

We will also be starting to sell at the Streatham market (Saturdays 10-3) twice a month. Our first one will be on the 30th of May so if you can make it we would love your support. We will be selling things you can eat while you are there and also some to stock your fridges and freezers with to cook at home for some hassle free yet delicious dinners.

We will also be at the Furzedown Big Day Out on the 13th of June which looks like it is going to be a fantastically fun day- let’s hope for some proper summer weather!

I hope that we are at least someway to being forgiven for our lack of blogging. To be kept most up-to-date with all our news and to check out some of the things we have been making please ‘like’ our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/forkslovefoodvegan) and follow our twitter (@forkslovefood) and instagram (Forks Love Food).

We look forward to seeing as many of you at these events as possible! Come and say hi; we don’t bite!

The Big Move….and some VegFest

Well we can’t believe it has been two months since our last post! It is taking us a while to properly get going as we moved to our new house about a month ago and it takes surprisingly long to get unpacked and ready to go!

Before we moved we did our first catering event for a naming ceremony. The mum of the little girl had recently turned vegan so it was really fun to make some things that people think are hard to make vegan. The food we made included mini quiches, “cheese” and tomato tartlets, “egg” mayonnaise sandwiches and lots of cupcakes! We had many positive comments from the guests (most of whom weren’t vegan) which was lovely.

The weekend before last we went to VegFest held at Kensington Olympia in London. If you haven’t heard of VegFest before it is a fantastic weekend event with tonnes of veggie stalls (food, clothes, gifts and much more) as well as lots of talks, presentations and even comedy ( we spend quite a bit of time at the comedy stage!). We stuffed ourselves full of free samples (especially all the different raw chocolates), bought far too much and had an amazing lunch of Pad Thai noodles and vegan hot dogs. It really is a great day out and there are several held around the country. Check out some of our photos below:

Despite us not doing any events recently we have been working in the kitchen trying out new recipes and perfecting old favourites. We are going to start to apply for our market stall places this week so watch this space for announcements of where we will be! And if you have any events you would like catered for or would like food to sell in a cafe or shop then please get in touch via forkslovefood@gmail.com.

Hi and welcome

Hi! Thank you for reading!

Let us first introduce ourselves and tell you a little about Forks Love Food.

We are two sisters, Olivia and Julia, born and raised in Cornwall but now up in big, bad London and loving it. I, Julia, was the first to become vegan in 2009 followed by Olivia a few years later (little sister copies big sister even after childhood!) and both of us feel pretty fantastic for it. We have always had a love of food and far from feeling like becoming vegan limited our culinary adventures we have had far more fun with our food creations in the kitchen and it has intensified our passion for good food.

Olivia started a vegetarian marketstall business with our cousin which was successful and popular in several London Farmers’ Markets but alongside full time jobs it meant that our cousin didn’t get much time to spend with her children so it was decided to put it on hold for a while. A couple of years later and now with me at her side we are now able to restart the business and now Forks Love Food is open for business. We are so excited!

We are going to be selling our food at various Farmers’ Markets around London so keep an eye on this page for announcements of when and where we will be. We are also available to hire to do catering for events.

Our aim is to bring delicious vegan food to everyone. Food that appeals to vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Our repertoire includes pies, burgers, sandwiches, quiches, salads, cupcakes, brownies and much, much more. Our flavours change continuously so you never know what flavours are going to be at the next market (unless you order a specific one in advance) and there is always something new to try.
